Wereldbuur Foundation

Wereldbuur Foundation was founded in May 2013. It supports projects for and by citizens in the field of Dutch language education. Wereldbuur entirely consists of volunteers and aims to stimulate and support language development for adults and children in the Amstelland region. 

Taalhuis

Wereldbuur is one of the 6 partners of the Taalhuis (Language House) Amstelland and is responsible for running the Taalhuis project in Amstelveen and the Taalpunt (Language servicepoint) in Aalsmeer.

Projects

Wereldbuur focuses on the following projects:

• Language coaching for adults, be it expats with some knowledge of the Dutch language, non-native speakers of Dutch or illiterate Dutch citizens. A volunteer coaches an individual who wants to improve his Dutch for a period of up to one year.
• The Taalvijver project helps primary school pupils between the age of 4 to 12 (primary school groups 2 to 8) who do not get in touch with the Dutch language at home, and therefore need help.
• The VoorleesExpress stimulates Dutch language development of children and enriches the language environment at home. A volunteer comes to the family’s home to read with and for the child for a period of 20 weeks.
